National Ice Cream Day is Sunday, July 19, and there are cool deals all over town with lots of plant-based options, plus the Sugar Factory is reopening its massive outdoor patio for dine-in and takeout for your aching sweet tooth — Here’s what’s popping up.

Coolhaus Ice Cream will be doing a giveaway partnered with Postmates, Uber Eats, Caviar and Door Dash. All delivery/pickup orders will receive one of the following items at random until supplies run out: Coolhaus signed cookbook, Coolhaus mask, Girls Who Run the World book, children’s book, Coolhaus silver tote and pin, or a Coolhaus mason jar and VIP coupon. The L.A.-based ice cream vendor will also be participating in Ice Cream for Change, donating 100 percent of the proceeds from the new Pride-inspired dairy-free EnjoyMINT For All pint to The Okra Project. 

Pressed Juicery will celebrate National Ice Cream Day with 50 percent off their Freeze and Frozen mini cups all day long. Freeze is a plant-based soft serve made from real fruits, nuts and vegetables. Top it off with  blueberries, vegan gummy bears or granola butter.

Similar to the Freeze, their Mini Frozen desserts are made from  ingredients like coconut cream and almonds and sweetened with maple syrup.

Insomnia Cookie’s CookieLab  Monster’wich is being unleashed at Insomnia Cookies  in time for National Ice Cream Day. Insomnia is “monster mashing” up your favorite cookie and ice cream combo and sandwiching it between two traditional cookies for the ultimate ice cream sandwich experience, with a buy one, get one free offer on Sunday. Choose from two traditional cookies of with one scoop of ice cream (any available flavor) and one traditional cookie (any available flavor) mixed together in between to make a Monster-style cookie’wich. Up to two toppings can be added for an additional charge.

Afters Ice Cream is partnering with Eclipse (creators of plant-based dairy products) to launch new plant-based flavors at all of their 28 locations starting on July 19. Afters is offering a complimentary scoop of Eclipse ice cream with any ice cream purchase, available exclusively for takeout on Sunday. Afters will also be introducing a plant-based version of their signature milky bun to support the launch. Try the chocolate chip cookie — chocolate chip cookie dough flavored ice cream with Afters plant-based chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chips and a chocolate swirl or java chip with espresso ice cream and chocolate chips.

Starting today, Sugar Factory Los Angeles at Westfield Century City will reopen for outdoor dine-in service. Sugar Factory’s same delicious and sweet menu will be available daily, bringing its whimsical candy land menu outside with celebrity couture pops, smoking cocktail goblets and signature over-the-top desserts. The new Los Angeles Sugar Factory is its largest restaurant and retail store globally, with 14,000 square feet, a huge crystal chandelier centerpiece and a massive outdoor patio garden.

For the first time in its storied century-plus history, Musso & Frank Grill has introduced a  new “Musso’s To You” program enabling patrons to place to-go orders and enjoy delivery service seven days a week. The new program will remain in effect until L.A. restaurants are permitted to offer indoor dining again.
