July is time to celebrate National Fried Chicken Day and National Hot Dog Month, as well as a little tiki culture.  Here’s what’s popping up this week.

Saturday, July 6

Head on down to the heart of DTLA for National Fried Chicken Day at barcito, Latin American-inspired café and bar. Chef Galen Duckles is serving up his fried chicken sandwich made with buttermilk fried chicken, a house-made pickled cabbage slaw and spicy honey on his night menu. Or stop by during Aperitivo Hour and savor a Fried Chicken Slider prepared the exact same way on a Hawaiian bun for $3 each.

Guests can also pair their poultry with one of barcito’s new cocktails, like the Cocchi Cooler made of cocchi americano, cucumber shrub, pineapple and mint, served with a complimentary snack trio.

Sunday, July 7

Bubs and Grandmas Toast Points

Mister O’s is hosting a Casino Night with bourbon brand Angel’s Envy. Guests can come dressed to impress and enjoy a night of Hold Em’, Black Jack and prizes, along with small bites like deep fried cheese curds made with Angel’s Envy buttermilk batter, cilantro flowers, honey and Aleppo pepper or Bubs and Grandma’s toast points with blue cheese, fromage blanc, orange blossom honey and sea salt. Craft cocktails using Angel’s Envy products like a Luck be a Sour Tonight with lemon, sorghum and egg whites will made by executive Chef Oscar Torres and bar director Rafael Barba.

Sunday, July 7, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.; $60 per person, guests can purchase tickets through Eventbrite;  ticket includes two specialty cocktails, small bites and whiskey tasting; full restaurant and bar menu will be available until 10 p.m.

Tuesday, July 9

Founded in 1961 by John Galardi with a single location in Southern California, Wienerschnitzel, is celebrating its 58th anniversary and National Hot Dog Month with 58-cent hot dogs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9. For just 58-cents each, guests can get in the summer spirit and chow down on the brand’s famous original chili dog or mustard dog (limit 10 per person).

Dog Haus Canoga Park, known for their gourmet hot dogs, sausages, burgers and fried chicken sandwich,will celebrate their fifth anniversary on Tuesday, July 9 with an all-day deal that includes a choice of seven chef-driven Haus Dog creations, which feature all-beef handcrafted dogs, created by Würstmacher Adam Gertler, and premium toppings – plus a PBR 16-oz. can – for just $5.

Wednesday July 10

An Evening of Tiki takes place at The Spare Room from 9 p.m.-2 a.m. on Wednesday, featuring over-the-top tiki cocktails by Will Elliott of Brooklyn’s Maison Premiere.

N.Y. transplants and L.A. locals alike can get a taste of the James Beard Award-winning bar on the West Coast for one night only. The Spare Room’s Beverage Director Yael Vengroff will also be serving an entirely new menu of tiki drinks and snacks with the addition of DJs and dancing (and leis!) going on all night long.
