We’re falling back this weekend, which is a perfect time for hot chocolate, coffee drinks, food delivery and comforting nachos.  Here’s what’s popping up this week.

Saturday, November 2

To celebrate its 80th Anniversary,  Nestle Abuelita  has partnered  Trejo’s Donuts to give away 2,000 free, specially created donuts using Nestle Abuelita and inspired by the Day of the Dead. The donut shop will give away donuts and Abuelita hot chocolate beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday. Customers  will receive two free donuts of their choice, as well as a cup of hot chocolate. The four specially created donut varieties that will be available only on this day are a churro-inspired raised donut stuffed with Abuelita chocolate cream rolled in cinnamon and sugar, a Day of the Dead raised donut with Abuelita chocolate glaze topped with sugar skulls and Día de los Muertos sprinkles, a Mexican hot chocolate cake donut topped with Abuelita dark chocolate glaze topped with marshmallows, and  a raised donut with Abuelita dark chocolate buttermilk glaze in the brand’s colors, red and yellow.

Silver Lake’s female-centric wine shop Vinovore will host two tastings in partnership with Raw Wine Week. From 3 to 5 p.m., Nomadic Wines will present Marlen Porter of Amplify Wines to pour; this tasting is $15 and tickets can be purchased here. From 5 to 7 p.m., Amy Atwood Selections will present Emily Towe of J.Brix, Tracey Brandt of Donkey & Goat, Megan Bell of Margins, Maria Koppitsch of Koppitsch, and Aphrodite Tousia of Kontozisis to pour 10 wines; this tasting is $20 and tickets can be purchased here. Tickets for both of these events can be purchased here for $25 dollars.

Coffee cocktails at Here and Now (Maybe Sammy)

Sunday, November 3

World-famous Australian cocktail bar, Maybe Sammy, will be taking over  Here and Now in the Arts District for one night only from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Maybe Sammy’s award-winning bartender team of Martin Hudak and Balazs Molnar will be serving well-crafted coffee cocktails featuring Mr. Black Coffee Liqueur. Hudak is the former senior bartender at the American Bar at the Savoy, London and was named the 2017 World Coffee in Good Spirits Champion. Molnar has worked at the Artesian Bar at the Langham, London and the Shangri-La Hotel in Hong Kong before moving to Australia.   The event marks Maybe Sammy’s first event in the U.S. after winning Best New International Cocktail Bar at Tales and landing in World’s Best 50.

Wednesday, November 6.

In celebration of  National Nachos Day, Azule Taqueria in Santa Monica offers customers to pick any taco on the menu and turn them into a stacked plate of nachos and is featuring $6 nachos for National Nacho Day.

The menu includes a  variety of toppings to choose from including vegetarian and vegan options like the vegan cauliflower al pastor (roasted cauliflower and pineapple, house salsa and avocado) and vegetarian Wild & Free (slow roasted wild mushrooms with garlic, herbs, house salsa and daiko).

Big Smack Cheeseburger (UberEats)

Television personality  and cookbook  author Rachael Ray has opened her first restaurant on Uber Eats for the months of November and December. Sharing recipes from her newest book, Rachael Ray 50: Memories and Meals from a Sweet and Savory Life, Ray is offering fans and Uber Eats customers the opportunity to enjoy her food delivered straight to their door for the first time. The virtual restaurant is live exclusively on the Uber Eats platform in 13 cities, including L.A.  Menu items range from Buffalo chicken chili and fettuccine alla vodka to tahini Caesar salad and garlic ricotta cauliflower mash and a Big Smack Cheeseburger.
