If you're looking for a Justin Bieber clone who can rap with all the finesse and complexity of a fourth-grader, LidoLido is your boy and “Chop It Up” is your song. The Norwegian teen “hip-hop” “star” (we use both of those words loosely) has channeled his love of “the entire American lifestyle” including “the food, basketball, the language” into this oddball, one-take music video set entirely in a kitchen. [Video after the jump.]

The song features the boy rapper gawkily wandering through a kitchen as sous chefs and prep cooks use kitchen utensils to drum out a clever, clanging backbeat for LidoLido's insipid lyrics, which are anchored by the chorus: “Chop, chop it up / Mix it in a stew / Make it hot now / Make it, make it hot now.”

In case you're wondering, the song is from LidoLido's forthcoming album “Pretty Girls & Grey Sweaters,” which is actually Norway's national motto.

There are many things about Europe we don't understand: the relentless critique of American politics combined with the shameless and hamfisted aping of American culture, pay-per-use toilets, Eurovision. Add LidoLido to that list.
