Researchers further document, that it’s possibly THC-P, with several THC-B aspects, that might be bringing about the psychoactive effects in cannabis users over delta 9 THC. Of course, this is what scientists have been saying for years now. While challenged by other scientists, additional research must take place before clear acknowledgements are made. With cannabis still considered a Schedule I drug by the DEA, cannabis and hemp research is left to scientists outside of the United States to make breakthroughs.

Does THC-B Get You High?

Wondering what is THC-B and if it will get you high? The answer is yes, THC-B can get you high. THC-B a psychoactive cannabinoid, and as we’ve already shared, it seems to have a stronger affinity for CB1 receptors than delta 9 THC, which directly influences the potency of its high.  

Basically, this information implies that tetrahydrocannabutol’s (THC-B) high is more powerful than delta 9’s. Just how much more powerful has yet to be determined. Its psychoactive effects haven’t yet been observed by researchers, so we can’t offer a specific comparison, like we can with tetrahydrocannabiphorol which’s known to be about 10x as intoxicating as delta 9 THC. THC-B is unlikely to be more intoxicating than THC-P, the cannabinoid considered to be the most psychoactive in all of cannabis. We also don’t yet know the specifics of the high in terms of its dominant effects – for instance, whether it creates a feeling of euphoria, whether it’s associated with couchlock, etc. 

Does THC-B Show Up On A Drug Test? 

As a rule of thumb, any time you encounter a cannabinoid with “THC” in the name, you should assume that it puts you at risk of failing a drug test. Why? Because all THC-based cannabinoids are metabolized by an enzyme called THC-COOH, which is what standard drug tests are seeking to identify in a person’s urine. 

Because THC-B is particularly potent, there’s good reason to believe that it’s actually more likely to fail a drug test after taking this cannabinoid than it is after taking delta 9 THC.

With tetrahydrocannabutol (THC-B) being such a new discovery, we don’t have access to ample studies that confirm specific properties and effects that this cannabinoid type is capable of – yet.
