Dennis RomeroA pair of men disguised as gas company workers robbed a Westchester residence and pistol-whipped an elderly man in what appears to be an alarming home invasion.
The LAPD says it happened at 9:30 this morning in the 7400 block of El Manor Avenue.
According to a statement from the department's Pacific Division:
The suspects were posing as gas company workers to gain entry into homes. Upon entry they used guns to commit the robbery. We believe the suspects to still be armed and dangerous.
LAPD Officer Venus Hall told the Weekly that the men were wearing “reflective gear” and represented themselves as gas company employees when they knocked on the door of an elderly couple.
The duo was let in and, when the suspects told the man to open a safe and he couldn't, at least one of the two pistol-whipped him and took off with the safe, she said.
The extent of the victim's injuries were unknown.
We asked Hall if there had been similar home invasions recently and she said no, but that investigators were looking into it.
The LAPD Pacific Division described the suspects:
Suspect one is a male Hispanic approximately 5'8″ tall with a medium build between the age of 25-35. He was wearing a orange vest, with blue jeans and tan boots. He was also wearing sun glasses and had a goatee.
Suspect two is a male Black approximately 6'2″ tall wearing a Blue shirt, Blue pants, with short hair approximately 25-30 years old. He was also wearing an orange vest.
