Someone sure wants change in West Hollywood, taking out a quarter page advertisement in the March 3 issue of the Park La Brea News/Beverly Press that features two L.A. Weekly cover stories.

But there's no need to Google. You can find the exposes right here…

The advertisement, paid for by the West Hollywood Group for Preservation of Our Streets, showcases two investigative news stories (one described as “Part 2”) that examine West Hollywood's cliquish political culture — and the highly questionable behavior of longtime incumbents John Heilman and Abbe Land and appointed council member Lindsey Horvath.

Those three local politicians are running in WeHo's March 8 elections.

“West Follywood” created a mighty stir in West Hollywood. The article is regularly cited by community activists as well as the challengers looking to unseat Heilman, Land, and Horvath, who are running as a cash-rich slate.

“Dethroning West Hollywood's Martinets” (or “Part 2”) is a February, 2011, follow up to last year's “West Follywood.”

It shows how Team Heilman and its allies play by their own rules and the kind of political machinery the challengers — Mito Aviles, John D'Amico, Mark Gonzaga, Lucas John, Steve Martin, and Scott Schmidt — are facing.

A third story on West Hollywood politics has been published this week: “West Hollywood Incumbents Dig In.”

Election Day is on Tuesday, March 8.
