Mother Dies, 3-Year-Old Child Injured in Hit-and-Run in Playa Del Rey

PLAYA DEL REY, CA (September 14, 2021) – A hit-and-run driver in Playa del Rey claimed the life of Wendy Galdamez Palma last Saturday.

Medical personnel responded to the deadly incident around 10:33 p.m., at the 8800 block of Vista Del Mar where they rushed the 3-year-old boy to an area hospital.

Unfortunately, 33-year-old Wendy Galdamez Palma died at the scene, according to Officer Mike Lopez of Los Angeles Police Department.

According to her relatives, the Downey woman shielded her 3-year-old son from the oncoming vehicle.

Investigators later identified the suspect’s vehicle as a dark-colored Toyota 4Runner. The driver is still at large.

The friends and family of Wendy set up a GoFundMe page to help with hospital and funeral expenses.

The Los Angeles Police Department is working to identify the suspect.
