You haven't really explored the Hollywood Forever Cemetery until you've been led around by a member of the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles (ADSLA) on its annual Halloween Forever Hollywood Cemetery Tour. Guides who really know what it takes to be a well-dressed corpse take you to gravesites of such Tinseltown luminaries as eponymous park donor Colonel Griffith J. Griffith; Hollywood founder Harvey Wilcox; heartthrobs Rudolph Valentino and Tyrone Power; Hearst's paramour Marion Davies; Our Gang's Carl “Alfalfa” Switzer; King Kong's blonde, Fay Wray; megaproducer Cecil B. Demille and more. Says ADSLA spokesperson Margot Gerber, “The docents will be in vintage Halloween costumes; they focus on the grave markers that are in the Deco style and also point out luminaries of early L.A. and Deco-era Hollywood celebrities. Some of the scandal stories such as that of 'Fatty' Arbuckle and Virginia Rappe (who is buried here) are shared.” Ignore the statue of Johnny Ramone — he's not buried here. Tours leave every 20 minutes from 10 a.m.-noon; tours last 2 1/2 hours; $13. (310) 659-3326.
