Your day trip to the beach no longer need involve overpriced boardwalk food for lunch. Little Sister, the Manhattan Beach restaurant from chef Tin Vuong, begins lunch service today, June 27. Little Sister will now be serving lunch three days a week, Fri., Sat. and Sun. from noon-3:30 p.m.

The lunch menu looks to follow the same no-holds-barred format of the dinner menu, serving creative takes on Southeast Asian flavors. There are a variety of bánh mi, including the soft-shell crab version pictured above, as well as cold cuts with pate, and six-spiced brisket. You can add a fried egg to any of these sandwiches.

Pan-fried bao and the Vietnamese vegetarian spring rolls called bi chay cuon are also part of the lunch offerings. But there are also less expected dishes, like a savory taro root cake with ground pork, shrimp, shitake, cracked egg, and scallions.

Little Sister will take reservations for lunch, but will also offer takeout. You can call the restaurant at 310-545-2096 to arrange for either of these scenarios.
