Dennis RomeroThe Los Angeles Police Department wants to help you help yourself by warning where DUI checkpoints and patrols will be and when they'll be there.
The department believes that these detailed cheat sheets will prevent people from getting behind the wheel after one too many.
With showers expected, some of the checkpoints might move under nearby bridges, if there are any available, police told us. Other than that, this is happening rain or shine. Here's the deal:
-Tonight from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., a checkpoint will be waiting for you on Sepulveda Boulevard at Parthenia Street in lovely North Hills.
-Tonight from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., extra cops will be on the streets of LAPD's Olympic Division area, which includes most of Koreatown, searching for drunk drivers. LAPD calls it a “saturation patrol.”
-Tonight from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., a checkpoint will be operating at an undisclosed location somewhere in the city of Pasadena, police there say.
-Saturday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., a saturation patrol will hit the streets of LAPD's Central Bureau area, which includes downtown, the Eastside, Northeast L.A. and more.
-Saturday from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., a checkpoint will be awaiting your arrival on Sherman Way at Yolanda Avenue in exotic Reseda.
-Saturday from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., an LAPD checkpoint will be running on Olympic Boulevard at Sunbury Street near Staples Center downtown. (A UFC mixed-martial-arts event is scheduled at Staples that night.)
-Saturday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., a checkpoint will be happening at an undisclosed location in the city of Lakewood, according to the L.A. Sheriff's Department.
-Sunday from 7 p.m. to midnight, police will be greeting you on Western Avenue at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in South L.A.
