When it comes to drunk driving crackdowns, it's pretty clear the Los Angeles Police Department has its favorite neighborhoods.

Whiter, wealthier areas of the city, represented by the department's West Los Angeles, Pacific and West Valley divisions, don't seem to be targeted half as much as South L.A. and the immigrant-rich communities surrounding downtown.

However: Cops will tell you they use arrest data to help them determine where to focus their efforts. On that basis, it's hard to deny that some of the LAPD's favorite haunts, like Koreatown, are being unfairly targeted. After all, that area has a notoriously dense concentration of alcohol establishments.

And that brings us to the belle of the ball, Koreatown, for this weekend's DUI crackdown cheat sheet. Here's the 411:

]

-Tonight from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. the LAPD will have extra patrol cars and motorcycle units on the streets of its Olympic Division area, which includes most of Koreatown. Police call it a “saturation patrol.”

-Tonight from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department will be expecting your presence at a checkpoint somewhere in the city of Lynwood (they're not saying exactly where).

-Friday from 7 p.m. to midnight there will be an LAPD DUI checkpoint awaiting your arrival on Florence Avenue at Hoover Street in South Los Angeles.

-Friday from 7 p.m. to midnight a checkpoint will be running on Manchester Avenue at Denver Avenue in South L.A.

-Saturday brings the LAPD back to the edge of Koreatown from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. for a checkpoint on Vermont Avenue at Beverly Boulevard.

-Saturday from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. a checkpoint will be waiting for you on Van Nuys Boulevard at Roscoe Boulevard in panoramic Panorama City.

Be safe.
