We've noted in the past that it seems, to us at least, that the LAPD likes to target minority areas when it sets up drunk-driver checkpoints. Downtown, Koreatown, Hollywood, the East Valley and South L.A. seem to be frequent targets. And the department was criticized for impounding the cars of illegal immigrants at said stops, so much so that it changed its policy.

Sure, all of L.A. is a minority community. But still, DUI checkpoints on the whiter Westside are few and far between. Not this weekend!

The LAPD heard us loud and clear is now targeting young white and Asian American people of the UCLA community with a checkpoint in Westwood tonight. We kid! Sort of.

Not only that, but we have DUI checkpoint info for Hollywood and beyond …

Today there will be a drunk-driver saturation patrol in Hollywood from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. That means that extra cops will be on the streets specifically to bust DUI suspects.

Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. that Westwood checkpoint will be happening on Wilshire Boulevard at Comstock Avenue, the gateway to Beverly Hills:
