One crazy retail fest that's already been on for a few days ends this weekend, while another major sale only happens for one day. So here's your friendly reminder to check out Nicole's Gourmet warehouse sale in Alhambra this Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

At Gourmet Imports: 961 S. Meridian Ave., Alhambra; (626) 570-6900.

Taste of Eagle Rock is coming up this Saturday, August 22 from noon-4 p.m. to benefit the Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness (GLAD). Held at GLAD's headquarters, participating restaurants include Lemongrass Vietnamese Restaurant, Cacao Mexicatessen, the Capri, Larkin's, Colombo's, among others. ($25 per ticket, or $10 for children 5-12, kids under 5 are free.) Or if you're a glutton for crowds, then check out a different flavor of neighborhood festival this weekend instead.

GLAD: 2222 Laverna Ave., Eagle Rock.

Opportunities to learn about tea these days are many. There's the UCLA Fowler Museum's “Steeped in History: The Art of Tea” exhibition, and Algabar Home & Life on La Brea is eager to educate, too. The La Brea shop has partnered with the home supper club group known as Chicks with Knives for two events: a four-course private dinner on Sunday, August 23 that incorporates Algabar teas, and the Crash Course in Tea on Wednesday, August 26 from 7-9 p.m. at the shop. Tea expert and Algabar founder Gail Baral will talk tea at the dinner, and at the Crash Course she'll lead participants through a more tea intensive experience of cuppings, tastings and evaluations. (Dinner costs $54, and the Crash Course is $35 per person; call 323-954-9720 to reserve.)

Algabar: 342 S. La Brea Ave., Los Angeles; (323) 954-9720.
