Anyone can badmouth the bad dresses and bad speeches at the Academy Awards, but leave it to professionals at IO West's third annual “Oscars Improviganza” to mockingly re-enact this year's nine Best Picture hopefuls. Three teams — M'Lady, Comrade! and King 10 — each bring to life three of the nominees, as well as collectively re-enacting a 10th movie suggested by the audience. Expect to see them freeing hostages, hunting for Osama bin Laden and breaking into songs about poverty, prostitution and revolution in 19th-century Paris. But how will they refrain from saying the N-word, which is used 108 times in Django Unchained? And how will they find a wig as ridiculous as the one Tommy Lee Jones sports in Lincoln? Singer-comic Bennett Jones will host and perform IO West's version of the Academy Awards' “In Memoriam” montage. Let's hope he has nice things to say about Ron “Horshack” Palillo, may he rest in peace. IO West, 6366 Hollywood Blvd., Hlwyd.; Tues., Feb. 19, 7:30 p.m.; $5. (323) 962-7560, ioimprov.com/west.
