LA WeeklyShoppers at the Jordan Downs Smart & Final in Watts were surprised today when the tab for their groceries was unexpectedly picked up by the Dodgers Foundation at the newest Smart & Final store in Jordan Downs. The store made history earlier in the year as the only grocery store in the heart of the designated food desert before the addition of a new store.
From 6am – 7am customers 60 years and older, expectant mothers, those with disabilities, and first responders in the medical field were shocked when grocery clerks surprised them with the news that the L.A. Dodgers were picking up the tab. From 7am-8am the giving continued for general shoppers. Smart & Final is the official grocery partner for the L.A. Dodgers.
