Chatsworth beat artist Baths has a known predilection for escapism, and one of his favorite outs is the work of acclaimed anime artist Hayao Miyazaki.

To wit, at his stunning show at the Downtown Independent on Sunday night, one of his equipment bags was a remake of the fuzzy titular character from Miyazaki's My Neighbor Totoro, and his laptop sported a Kodama — one of the tiny tree spirits from Princess Mononoke.

In the just-released video for “Lovely Bloodflow,” a standout from his excellent debut LP Cerulean, Baths once again channels that last film. Though the Young Replicant-directed clip is live action, its themes instantly bring to mind the spooky sylvan vibe of Mononoke.
