Savage Steve Holland's mental teen comedies Better Off Dead and One Crazy Summer are two of the most beloved cult films of the '80s, though you wouldn't know that to ask star John Cusack. In the ensuing years, he's taken to refusing to discuss his appearances as the hapless protagonist of both flicks. (Which always seemed absurd, if you ask us, but now in light of Hot Tub Time Machine … what gives, Johnny? Would you lighten up if we gave you your two dollars?) At any rate, the rest of the wonderful and talented casts of Holland's two magnum opuses of comedy have no such qualms, and most of them will be on hand to join the director at Cinefamily's “Dumber in the Summer: A Night With Savage Steve Holland,” discussing these deeply revered teen classics, following screenings of each: from Better Off Dead, Diane Franklin, Dan Schneider, E.G. Daily and Holland MVP Curtis Armstrong, who returns after One Crazy Summer to chat alongside Bobcat Goldthwait (please, somebody ask him about the “little fat boy” monologue!) and Joel Murray.
