Motorcyclist Pronounced Dead after Big-Rig Collision near Customhouse Plaza

SAN DIEGO, CA (December 17, 2021) – A motorcycle crash on Siempre Viva Road left Walter Martinez killed early Monday morning.

According to reports, the incident happened around 6:40 a.m., near Customhouse Plaza. Crews responded to the scene shortly after.

Police determined that Martinez, a Mexico resident, was riding east near the 9200 block of Siempre Viva Road alongside a semi-truck. As the semi-truck driver attempted to make a U-turn in front of Martinez, his two-wheeler struck the axle.

Upon impact, the motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway near the U.S. Mexico border. Eventually, paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the rider to a hospital. There, 27-year-old Walter Lopez Martinez succumbed to his injuries.

At this time, San Diego Officials are working to identify the circumstances surrounding the Siempre Viva Road motorcycle crash.
