Schedule Update, March 12: SBCE is canceling two of the more than 45 events being offered over the weekend: Border Grill at The Beach: SBCE Signature Luncheon (Saturday, March 14) and Savor Santa Barbara: SBCE Neighborhood Tasting (Sunday, March 15).

All of the remaining SBCE events are proceeding as scheduled, plus the various free public events and the Dine Around with Julia Child and Cocktail Crawl with Paul Child.

“We are watching the COVID-19 situation closely and are taking precautions in accord with the best practices of health professionals and community leaders,” organizers said in a statement.

For the love of Julia Child and any fan who wants to savor her legacy, the Santa Barbara Culinary Experience, together with The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts, will offer an expansive citywide calendar of events for the three-day weekend of March 13-15, 2020.

The epicurean celebration of both Julia Child and Santa Barbara’s expanding food scene will feature chefs, mixologists, restaurateurs and the local community, with guest appearances from national food and beverage talents.

The late cookbook author, chef and TV personality was passionate about teaching others about the culinary arts — and Child was an devotee of Santa Barbara, as well as a longtime resident herself. The experience will  gather the community and visitors to celebrate the bounty of Santa Barbara’s  resources found in its local farms, ranches, vineyards and ocean.
