Enjoy discovering new art? What about cocktails, deejays, innovative jewelry design, crafts and fashion? Or spoken word, live painting performances and audience awards? If you answered yes to any of these, you're in luck this weekend, because so do the good people at Create:Fixate, whose long-awaited new installment, “DREAMS,” is tonight. For the 12th anniversary of this bastion of indie culture, the organizers are upping their game. In addition to the dozens of talented visual artists — including painters, photographers, sculptors and multimedia installation artists — exhibiting their work, one entire gallery is dedicated to the results of their first Graffiti/Fine Art Mash-Up. For weeks before the show, a select group of street artists have been paired off with a curated fine-art crew, producing a series of large-scale back-and-forth collaborations that will be unveiled for the first time this weekend. The progress shots are already rather breathtaking. As the curators' statement promises, “Here we dream a life so alive we can't possibly contemplate all the sounds at once.” If that sounds overwhelming, don't worry — these group shows have a way of gelling into moving, coherent art experiences that are more than the sum of their considerable parts. As the statement continues, “Here in our dreams we are free to experience whatever we choose to take a look at, whatever moves us most.” Lot 613, 613 Imperial St., dwntwn.; Sat., Nov. 9, 7 p.m.-2 a.m.; $20, $15 before 9 p.m. (323) 934-7777, createfixate.com.
