It's official: the “paws-up” hand-sign has kicked the ubiquitous “devil horns” hand-sign to the curb. Last night at Fun Haus, the official Lady Gaga “Born This Way” record release bash at the Belasco Theatre, nearly every photo we shot featured fierce curved fingers and growly faces to match. And we're gonna venture to guess the gesture — which is about self-empowerment as much as it about paying homage to “the Mother Monster”– will transcend drunken dance clubbers and seep into pop culture on a mass scale; meaning even your mom will be doing it soon.

No artist in recent memory has had the fervent bond Gaga does with her fans (well, maybe Bieber does), and though sometimes it feels like she exploits it, it's a force nonetheless. So when we heard there was a good chance the popstar would be making a surprise appearance at the Belasco to greet fans, we believed it. She was after all, down the street earlier in the evening to perform on the American Idol finale.

Alas the Lady did not show. (She didn't go to Empire, the weekly sleaze-fest above The Roxy thrown by her pals and tourmates Semi Precious Weapons, either.) She's got Good Morning America tomorrow, so she probably needed some beauty rest, but we think considering her relentless spiel about her connection with her fans, she should have slapped-on more of that crazy-ass makeup, and at least made a quickie paws-up pop-in.

The party was one of the best we've been to in while, regardless. Great Gaga remixes spun by Josh Peace (as we suspected, her stuff is way more seductive in a club environment), hot go-go boys and gals, free Belvedere for the VIPs (courtesy of Gilt City) and a photo booth featuring Gaga's innovative new “Grey Label” Polaroid products. Best of all? Her fans, done up in various glamtastic Gaga video looks. Some of our faves:
