Update Sunday afternoon: The students at Poly win again, clever things. See Viewer's Choice 2011 float on jump.

You've got less than two hours to online vote or text vote for the best 2011 Rose Parade float. The Viewer's Choice has gone for two years to the Cal Poly University float thanks to a highly dedicated effort by students from the Poly campuses in Pomona and San Luis Obispo.

But the Cal Poly float is kind of weenie.

Vote here online before 2:10 pm today, Pacific time. Or choose a float's ID number from that Web site, and then text “FLOAT” followed by the Float I.D. to 50649.

According to the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association:

For the last two years, parade fans chose Cal Poly University as the winner of the Viewers' Choice Award. Cal Poly's 2010 float, themed “Jungle Cuts,” received 20,788 votes out of a total of 50,535 votes submitted.

The float featured wild animals receiving haircuts and makeovers from monkey barbers performing high above the tree tops. “Jungle Cuts,” received 20,788 votes out of a total of 50,535 votes submitted.

2011 Rose Parade Viewer's Choice winner, not weiner.

Here's the winning 2011 Viewer's Choice float. This year's effort was much more interesting than the 2010 winner, but still you have to hand it to the students for being the best vote-gatherers.

Some Poly students should maybe go into politics.
