Given his stated distaste for immigrants, you could reasonably conclude that Southern California is not a hotbed of support for GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.

At least one anonymous supporter wants to prove that idea wrong.

Someone hacked a 15 freeway road sign in Corona to read, “Inland Empire Supports Donald Trump. Merry Xmas. Vote Donald Trump.”

The sign appeared on Christmas night and was videotaped by Nikki Miles Worden, who posted the footage on her Facebook page. “Driving N/B 15 fwy in Corona look what we saw had to turn around and record this!!!!,” she wrote.

Interestingly, Worden's Facebook timeline features expressions of support for Trump, gun owners' rights and Ronald Reagan. Nowhere, however, does it display any particular penchant for hacking.

The Riverside County Transportation Commission admitted yesterday that its sign was “hacked.” The body is overseeing a project that includes the addition of lanes to the Inland Empire freeway.

“The electronic sign located on northbound Interstate 15 between El Cerrito and Ontario Avenue in Corona was changed from a construction alert to a political statement,” the commission said in a news release.

Crews were off for the holiday, and when they got back the message was returned to normal, it stated.

“Enhanced security measures will be implemented to protect the signs and the project from additional vandalism,” the commission said.

John Standiford, deputy executive director of the commission, told us that officials believe someone might have broken into the sign's internal controls and changed its message on-site.

“We're going to make security a little tougher,” he said.

Indeed, they better lock the thing up tight before Jeb! asks for equal time.
