The Fourth of July may be over, but the fireworks continue as this popular ensemble, known for blending the exuberance of traditional Brazilian dance with contemporary movement, launches the local al fresco dance season. For the troupe’s sixth summer performance, artistic directors Linda Yudin and Luiz Badaro recruited noted Brazilian choreographer Roseangela Silvestre to provide new works celebrating the power of water as a force and a symbol. Live music and drumming provide the backdrop for dances ranging from the sensuous samba to the powerful Afro-Brazilian movement of the Bahia region.
