52-Year-Old Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident near Rosedale Highway
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 17, 2023) – Early Friday morning, Vielka Eleanor Gerardo was killed in a pedestrian crash on Highway 99. Police responded to the scene around 1:18 a.m., near Rosedale Highway on July 14th. According to reports, the 64-year-old male driver of a Peterbilt truck was unable to see Gerardo and struck her on the road. Investigators say she was wearing dark-colored clothing in the No.3 lane. In addition, police say another semi-truck was in the next lane, preventing the driver from taking evasive action. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the pedestrian, 52-year-old Gerardo dead at the scene.
