Tom Explores Los Angeles Goes 360 at Confluence

Friday, December 23, 2016

Where was Los Angeles born? Tom Carroll of web series "Tom Explores Los Angeles" and Beard and Glasses VR try to answer that question by pinpointing the starting point of infrastructure in Los Angeles. Starting at the Confluence of the Los Angeles River and the Arroyo Seco, they dig into the exact spot where a dam was built in the late 18th century, and the Southern Pacific Railroad would build a bridge in 1876 that connected Los Angeles with the rest of America. Moving from 1769 to the present day, they show you history of the movement of goods and people through this pivotal iterative corridor—from the channelization of the Los Angeles River to building the 110 freeway, and with the recent addition of the Gold Line, they paint a picture of how the city of angels was able to grow into a world power. This is a rectangular conversion of a 360° Video. Tune in soon on Facebook to experience the interactive version. Starring Tom Carroll. Written by Tom Carroll and Rory Mitchell. Directed by Rory Mitchell. Produced by Josh Polon and Dan Lichtblau.
