83-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Auto Accident near Chard Avenue

GERBER, CA (February 7, 2022) A vehicle collision on Highway 99 left James Wilborn killed, and Victor Baus injured Tuesday morning.

The incident happened just south of Chard Avenue around 10:15 a.m.

Per reports, 81-year old Baus of Gerber was driving a 2003 Toyota Tacoma on Highway 99, as he was preparing to turn left into a private driveway.

For reasons unknown, Baus crashed his vehicle into a 1995 Honda driven by 83-year-old Wilborn, of Clearlake. Due to the impact of the collision, Wilborn suffered major injuries and later died at the hospital.

Moreover, medics say Baus suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics eventually transported him to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff for further treatment.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further details is still currently underway.
