In the early morning of January 27, 45-year-old Vicki Yildirim was found bleeding in a courtyard in the 500 block of West Century Boulevard.

City News Service reported that she suffered one stab wound to the chest and was rushed to Harbor UCLA Medical Center by paramedics. Yildirim, was announced in “serious” medical condition upon arrival, according to LAPD investigators.

According to the Los Angeles Times, she was pronounced dead shortly after.

There may have been a motive behind her murder, wrote the Times:

During the investigation, detectives learned Yildirim was having a verbal dispute about money with another person before she was stabbed. The assailant wanted “better respect from the victim.”

Upon further investigation, two suspects were arrested and charged with killing Yildirim. Edward Caballero and Gloria Caballero, both in their 30s, were given one count of murder — but it was not confirmed that they were the ones who verbally threatened Yildirim that night.
