70-Year-Old Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Isil Avenue

BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 20, 2022) – Saturday night, 70-year-old Vicenta Martinex de Garcia was killed in a pedestrian accident on Isil Avenue.

Officers responded to the scene just before 8:00 p.m., at H Street and Isil Avenue.

According to reports, the driver of a passing vehicle struck the pedestrian as she was attempting to cross the street. Upon impact, the driver remained and the scene and contacted 911.

Paramedics transported the female pedestrian to a nearby hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Meanwhile, the involved driver remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities.

The Kern County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as 70-year-old Vicenta Martinex de Garcia of Bakersfield.

Moreover, a large portion of the roadway was temporarily closed down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. Authorities have not released any additional information at this time, as an active investigation is underway.
