Michele StuevenThe American Legion Hollywood Post 43 Theater Drive-In will celebrate Veterans Day with a special screening of Good Morning, Vietnam on Wednesday, November 11 at 8:30 p.m. The screening will kick off a month-long food drive to support Food on Foot, an organization that supports the homeless and food banks.
Donated food items that are ready to eat and don’t require kitchen preparation, like cans, boxes, bottles, protein bars, nuts, chips and peanut butter are requested and can be dropped off during check-in upon arrival. Donations to the food drive will continue through the month of November at Legion Drive-In screenings which include Legally Blond, Moonstruck, Robocop, The Terminator and a Sean Connery tribute.
“Our presentation of Good Morning, Vietnam is a celebration of veterans everywhere,” Legion Theater director Bill Steele said in a press release. “We are proud to be able to bring the public and veterans together during a pandemic and honor those who have served our country, in war and peace.”
Starting today through Sunday, November 15, when guests make a purchase through dickeys.com or the Dickey’s App, they will have the option to add one, five or 10 Pulled Pork Classic Sandwiches to be delivered to local veteran organizations. Additionally, the Dickey family has pledged to match every sandwich donated to double the efforts to feed Veterans.
On Wednesday, Nov. 11, Veterans can visit their local participating Dickey’s in-store to receive a free Pulled Pork Classic Sandwich with a military ID or valid proof of service, as well as a free Classic Sandwich and side for military service members (in-store or online) with a $10 minimum purchase. The Texas-style barbecue chain offers various ongoing discounts for Veterans. They can receive 25% off Dickey’s initial franchise fee for their first store, and Veterans and active military personnel get 10% off their in-store orders daily at participating locations.

Farmer Boys is showing appreciation to local veterans and active duty military by offering a free Big Cheese at all participating locations on Wednesday. The Veterans Day promotion is valid in the drive-thru, carryout and phone orders in Los Angeles, and military personnel must mention the offer and show proof of service when ordering their burger.
El Torito, Chevys Fresh Mex and Acapulco are offering vets and active military complimentary three-item combination plates all day Wednesday with uniformed services identification.
The El Torito three item combo includes refried beans, rice and signature sweet corn cake as well as three items of your choice including a variety of tacos, enchiladas and tamales.
The Chevys deal includes rice, sweet corn tamalito and choice of beans a la charra, refried beans or vegetarian black beans plus three items of your choice from a selection of enchiladas, tacos and chile rellenos.
The Acapulco combo has rice and refried beans (or substitute with fresh vegetables) plus three items of your choice including tacos, enchiladas and chicken taquitos.
From 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Black Angus Steakhouse will offer veterans the All-American Steak Plate for $10.99. Available for restaurant dining and takeaway orders, the deal includes an 8 oz. Certified Angus Beef top sirloin, mashed potatoes, broccoli with garlic butter and a non-alcoholic beverage.
In addition to honoring all active duty and retired military personnel with a year-round 15% discount, Grimaldi’s Pizzeria will celebrate Veterans Day by offering 25% off an entire purchase for U.S. veterans. Must show valid military I.D. to redeem.
The Habit Burger Grill will be serving complimentary chargrilled meals to those who have served our country at two different Veteran centers in Southern California, on Wednesday.
The Habit’s catering truck will be at the Veterans Home Of California Ventura location, and at the U.S. VETS’ Long Beach location offering their signature Charburger with cheese and French fries. There will also be a veggie burger option available. Earlier in the year, the catering trucks provided over 25,000 meals to frontline medical personnel and most recently served over 3,000 free meals to their local community on election day.
