From Vertigo Pop! Tokyo, the first in a four-issue series, out this week from DC Comics.

“The story is about a lonely American guy, an ambitious Japanese girl, a group of gangsters and a flamboyant Tokyo rock star,” says writer and co-creator Jonathan Vankin (an L.A. Weekly contributor). “Multiple kidnappings, dangerous obsessions, a deadly crew of yakuza, beautiful groupies, staggering salarymen, ramen carts,
high-tech toys, seaweed burgers, mayonnaise pizzas, plenty of neon and all of the unnerving details that make Tokyo a real-life alternate universe.”

Illustrated and co-created by Seth Fisher. Vertigo is an imprint of DC Comics, a division of Warner Bros., an AOL-Time Warner Company.
