Dennis RomeroA teenager shot in Venice this afternoon was hospitalized in unknown condition, authorities said. The victim, possibly 18, was reportedly shot in the face, LAPD spokeswoman Norma Eisenman told the Weekly.

There are indications that the attack could be the result of an ongoing feud between Westside gangs — the Playboy Gangster Crips of Crestview and the local Venice Shorline Crips:
Eisenman noted that the LAPD's West Los Angeles Division, which patrols Crestview, was immediately notified of the apparent drive-by.
The shooting at Vernon and Fourth avenues in the heart of Venice's Oakwood neighborhood was reported at 1 p.m., she said.
Five to six gunshots were heard by people who called 911, Eisenman said.
Police were looking for a gold sedan with dark, tinted windows, she said.
The L.A. Fire Department responded to a report of a shooting nearby at about 1:02 p.m., said spokesman Brian Humphrey. A patient was rushed to a hospital in unknown condition, he said.
On Dec. 2 a shooting in Crestview, in the 1900 block of Corning Ave., took the life of a 7-year-old boy and wounded two adults.
The Playboy Gangster Crips in that area off La Cienega Boulevard and the Shorline Crips, which call Oakwood home, have been bitter enemies for years.
