A brutal beating next to the Venice boardwalk this week was captured on video (below).

Los Angeles Police Department detectives are asking for your help in tracking down not only the suspect but the victim, whom “we haven't been able to locate,” Officer Nuria Venegas told us.

The attack took place shortly before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on Ocean Front Walk, according to an LAPD statement:

The department says it was looking “to identify the parties involved.” The beating involved two men, one of whom initially swings at the victim with an object before sitting on top of him and repeatedly punching his face.

Cops say they received at least one call about the assault but that, when they arrived, the suspect and victim were gone.

According to an LAPD statement:

A community member then posted video footage of the incident on YouTube.com and Pacific Division Detectives have been conducting an investigation in order to identify the parties involved. They are also asking for any witnesses to the incident to notify detectives.

Late last year another boardwalk beating was captured on video. A suspect was ultimately nabbed.
