Vehicle Crash on Molera Road near Monterey Dunes Way Left One Fatality

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (August 7, 2023) – Late Thursday night, police responded to a vehicle crash on Molera Road. The fiery incident happened on August 3rd, at around 11:00 p.m., in the area just south of Monterey Dunes Way. According to reports, a 2016 blue Hyundai Sonata driven by a 29-year-old woman and occupied by two passengers slammed into a PG&E electric pole. Furthermore, the collision sent the Hyundai to roll over and burst into flames. The driver became trapped in the vehicle while it was on fire. Following the crash, responding authorities pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Additionally, responders transported two passengers to the hospital. Meanwhile, authorities sent PG&E crews to the site to restore the damaged pole. At this time, the identity of the woman was not yet released, and the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office will disclose it once available.
