A Pacoima woman who was shot along with three others has died of her injuries. Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a radio call of an “ADW shooting in progress” near Pala Avenue and Pinney Street in Pacoima around 10 p.m. March 23.

When the officers and Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics arrived, they found four victims suffering gunshot wounds. At the hospital, one victim was listed in stable condition, and two were listed in critical condition including 21-year-old Vanessa Rankins. Rankins died the next day, March 24, at around 3:55p.m.

Police have determined that an unknown number of Hispanic male gunmen approached Rankins and her friends in the 13000 block of Pinney Ave. The gunmen shot multiple rounds in the direction of the victims, striking them. The motive for the shooting is unknown. Anyone with information about the attack should contact LAPD Foothill Division detectives at (818) 834-3115.
