Last Saturday, we headed to the Pasadena Convention Center for Rock'n Comic Con. With live bands, DJs and comic book geekiness, the con straddled both the music and comic worlds. While we didn't see many exhibitors bridging fandoms, we did find one new toy that is as much a cool addition to a doll collection as it is a goth club accessory.

Vamplets are “baby vampyres” as cuddly as they are evil. Created by artist G-ra, each doll comes with a bloody baby bottle and a distinct personality. There's Count Vlad von Gloom, the haughty descendent of Dracula. Lily Rose Shadowlyn has a fit if she's not hugged regularly. Burton Creepson, Jr. fingerpaints with blood. Evilyn Nocturna is a psychic and sleepwalker. Midnight Mori is terrified of pink ponies and unicorns. Cadaverson Nightshade is the baby who will take apart every gadget you have left in his vicinity.

“They're really rotten to the core,” says G-ra, herself a fan of things that are “creepy, but cute.”

Each doll comes with a code that you can use on the Vamplets website to obtain an “undead certificate” as well as design a headstone and coffin or your creepy new toy.
