Furniture shopping can be taxing. With so many options, ads and designs to choose from, making a decision can somehow feel overwhelming. And when it comes to selecting a bed frame, the pressure is even greater, as most consumers want a bed that is equally aesthetically pleasing as it is well-designed and built to last—after all, your bed is where you’ll spend a third of your life! Presently, the two hottest beds on the market are Valyou’s Charm 2.0 Bed and the Thuma bed. With similar designs, consumers have been comparing the two side by side to determine which is the better product. Despite their similarities, we decided to take a closer look and compare the two so you don’t have to. Valyou Charm 2.0 bed vs. the Thuma Bed.

PRICE:

If you haven’t already discovered, furniture is expensive—a lot more expensive than one would think. At a glance, the biggest difference between the Charm 2.0 and the Thuma bed is pricing. Thuma’s bed in a queen comes in just under a thousand dollars, while Valyou’s Charm comes in at $459 for a queen. For all you bargain hunters and furniture dupe scavengers, the Valyou Charm bed is a dead ringer dupe at a significantly less price point. Both brands also offer financing: Thuma’s offers Affirm, while Valyou offers Klarna. Still, the financing option is better through Valyou as Klarna’s financing is interest free, while Affirm’s interest rates vary between 10-30% APR. Another bonus when selecting the Charm bed is, if you’re new to Valyou, you can subscribe to the Valyou Family Newsletter and get a $50 discount code.

QUALITY & UPKEEP:

When looking for furniture, one thing to avoid is MDF aka medium density fibreboard. This is that cheap engineered material that feels like cardboard wood. Surprisingly, both bed frames are made from solid wood. The Thuma is made from repurposed wood and the Charm 2.0 from whole ash wood. As far as the frames themselves, they’re both great quality, though the Thuma bed only comes in one color, while the Charm is available in a warm ash or a darker walnut wood. And for the headboards, both are made from a foam fill, giving them a firm but comfortable cushion. Now for design selections, Valyou has more variety with four upholstery options: black leather, white leather, beige or grey organic linen. Thuma offers a 100% polyester pebbled linen material in dark charcoal or light linen. Both with similar Japanese-inspired designs, the Thuma and Charm take only 10 minutes or so to assemble and require only one person and no tools. Each side of the bed frame slats into the other, feeling more like a puzzle that locks into place than a bed that needs assembling. As for the upkeep, if you’re worried about spills or stains, the Valyou Charm bed in a leather upholstered headboard might be the best option as it’s much easier to clean.

OVERALL:

Honestly, the beds are so similar, at first glance, it can be difficult to know which one is which. With practically the same level of quality and design, we kind of have to wonder why anyone would pay more for the Thuma when Valyou offers essentially the same bed at a better price and with more color and design variations. The major differences seem to come down to pricing and color options, which Valyou wins in both areas.
