Driver Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision near Griffith Park
LOS ANGELES, CA (October 13, 2022) – Saturday afternoon, Valeriy Saakyan was killed and Sonia Sovereign was arrested after a hit-and-run.
The incident happened around 2:30 p.m., in the 2400 block of Fern Dell Drive on October 8th.
According to reports, a dispute occurred between Saakyan and Sovereign. He lost his footing and Sovereign got into his light blue 2005 Lexus and intentionally ran him over. Sovereign then fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim.
First responders arrived and rushed 70-year-old Saakyan to a local hospital. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics later pronounced Saakyan dead.
Following preliminary duties, police located and arrested Sovereign after she was seen getting out of the involved vehicle.
