And the university responded last night by banning weeknight parties on campus and at Greek residences for the rest of the fall semester. Not only that …

… but weekend parties must receive specific approval from school officials.

This is all according to Ainsley Carry, vice provost for student affairs, who laid down the law in a statement to the Weekly and other outlets.

Some serious partying over the weekend, including seven students sent to hospitals for suspected alcohol intoxication and one Loyola Marymount University who was seriously injured at a party hosted by USC fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon Thursday.

The LMU student was in serious condition at a hospital, but it wasn't clear how she was injured, reported Neon Tommy, which broke the news of the party shenanigans yesterday.

Vice provost Carry:

With regard to the case of a student from Loyola Marymount University injured at an unregistered party, the university has placed the chapter where the injury occurred on immediate social probation. Social events at the chapter will be prohibited until this matter is resolved. … Our thoughts are with the LMU student and her family and we all wish her a speedy recovery.
