USC is a Top School For 'Sugar Babies'

If you asked us which Southern California school might make a ranking of “Top 20 Fastest Growing Sugar Baby Schools,” we'd go down a list that includes community colleges, Cal State campuses, and UC schools before landing on anything even near a private university.

Why?

Well, we'd figure the desperation needed to online-date dirty old men would have some relationship to the inability to pay one's tuition and fees. The public schools often draw the kind of students who are hustling their way through school with multiple jobs. We are wrong:

The so called sugar-daddy-dating website SeekingArrangement.com this week revealed a list of “Top 20 Fastest Growing Sugar Baby Schools” and, surprisingly, USC, one of the most expensive universities in Southern California, is a winner. It made number eight.

According to the site, the list is based on the college affiliations of new sign-ups – people looking for sugar daddies and, in its words, “unique ways to pay for college.”

Maybe the Trojan education has become so pricey that it has come to this: It has been estimated to cost more than $60,000 a year.

SeekingArrangement says that's typical: The cost of attending college has gone up 60 percent in 10 years. The site says 1 million students tried it out in 2013, and that the average take-home for a successful “sugar baby” is $3,000 a month (if you can believe that).

Its ranking was based on campuses that had the greatest increases in participation on the site. In 2013, SeekingArrangement claims, it saw 54 percent growth, with students making up 42 percent of its users. CEO Brandon Wade:

Um. Yeah. Sorry Trojans, but UCLA has you beat in the game of not being on this embarrassing list.
