England’s Premier League is filled with just about every European nationality out there. After all, to them, soccer is deeply ingrained in their culture — it’s also practically their lifestyle. However, from time to time, you’ll see EPL managers loan, transfer, or reach an agreement with an American to represent an English team.

Here are a few US soccer players kicking the ball on English turf.

2022/2023 US Soccer Players in England’s Premier League

As of writing, there are a total of 9 US soccer players in the Premier League.

Christian Pulisic

Left Winger, Chelsea

Perhaps the most well-known US soccer player in England’s Premier League is “Captain America” himself, Christian Pulisic. The Pennsylvania native started his career in Borussia Dortmund (Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e. V. Dortmund — or Die Borussen — or just BVB). But because of his impressive speed, he was quickly noticed by Chelsea FC — and in 2019, he was transferred to the club for $73 million. This makes him the most expensive North American player of all time

Matt Turner

Goal Keeper, Arsenal

One Gunner is an all-American goalkeeper from New Jersey — and that’s none other than Matt Turner! Besides playing for the National US Soccer Team, the 28-year-old’s career has been based mostly in the USA. Until, of course, Matt Turner was signed to Arsenal last 2022 — and his skills as a goalkeeper shouldn’t be overlooked. He was one of the finalists for the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Award. So Matt Turner is someone we should look out for!

Gabriel Slonina

Goal Keeper, Chelsea

Are you feeling the “blues?” Because just like his fellow American Christian Pulisic, Gabriel Slonina is also a Pensioner! This 6 foot 4 goalkeeper is only 18 years old — but he’s now in one of the biggest soccer clubs in England. And just last month, he became the youngest goalkeeper to play for the United States senior team. Even though he has Polish ancestry, he declined the offer to play for the Polish team (which was scheduled to play against Belgium, the Netherlands, and Wales). He insisted on representing the US instead.

Brenden Aaronson

Right Winger, Leeds United

Americans sure have a lot of young soccer stars on the rise! If you’re wondering who the second most expensive North American soccer player of all time is, that would be Leeds United’s Brenden Aaronson! The “Medford Messi” (as people call him) midfielder was previously in Red Bull Salzburg. He was given that nickname because of his likeness to Lionel Messi’s style of play. As if those weren’t enough to convince you that soccer is in his blood, Brenden Aaronson’s brother, Paxton Aaronson is also a soccer player — he plays for Eintracht Frankfurt.

In addition:

Chris Richards (Center Back, Crystal Palace)

Antonee Robinson (Left Full-Back, Fulham)

Tim Ream (Center Back, Fulham)

Tyler Adams (Central Midfielder, Leeds)

Jesse Marsch (Manager, Leeds)

Goooooaaaal!

Right now, we can count on our hands the number of US soccer players who are playing England’s Premier League — and most of them are under 30 years old! That said, these young talents have lots of potential because they’re out there on English turf, representing their teams, but keeping the American spirit with them. Let’s support our athletes — whether they’re here or overseas!
