Bastille Day is coming up this Sunday, July 14, but there's no requirement to be French, or even a Francophile, to toast the ideals of Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity. There's the annual Bastille Day Los Angeles Festival with food, wine and plenty of musical and dance performances at Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area. It's going to be a near all-day event, from noon to 8 p.m. If you're in the mood for something on a smaller scale, below are other highlights in food and/or drink occuring in town this weekend.

Coco Laurent

Coco Laurent is celebrating the day with a 25% discount on all French wines by bottle and by glass. To pair with wine, there'll be menu specials like pâte de champagne, escargot, pan-seared ahi tuna loin with sauce soubise, oven-roasted pheasant breast with charred tomato risotto, clafoutis and crêpe cake. The specials will be available from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. 707 S. Grand Ave., Los Angeles; (213) 623-0008.

Comme Ça

Cost Plus World Market

Fans of Gilles Marini take note: The actor (Dancing with the Stars, Sex and the City: The Movie) will be making an appearance at Cost Plus World Market this Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The first 200 people in line with five non-perishable food items to donate to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank will received an autographed copy of his photo. 6333 W 3rd St., Los Angeles; (323) 935-5530.

domaineLA

DomaineLA owner Jill Berheimer will offer a sampling of some of the wine varietals and cheeses featured in Kathe Lison's The Whole Fromage: Adventures in the Delectable World of French Cheese from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Lison will be there to sign copies of her book. 6801 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles; (323) 932-0280.
