There's an update on the condition of the Silver Lake restaurant employee who was shot and seriously wounded last weekend in an apparent road rage incident. Sadly, Juan David Vasquez Loma (who goes by David Vasquez), an employee of two popular silver Lake restaurants, El Chavo and Garage Pizza, is on life support and has been declared brain dead, reports our sister blog, The Informer.

The shooting occurred at 5:08 a.m. on Sunday morning at the intersection of Silver Lake Boulevard and West Scott Place. After getting off work at Garage Pizza, which stays open until 4 a.m. on weekends, Loma was reportedly driving co-workers home when what may have been a green Honda pulled up next to his Chevy truck and occupant in the vehicle shot him through the head.

Detective Larry Burcher of the LAPD's Northeast Division tells the Weekly that Loma is not expected to survive and that the hospital is “working with the Mexican consulate, trying to get [Loma's] mother up here from Mexico” before anything is made official. The case is being treated as a homicide.
