The New Year's Eve invitations have all gone out. The guests are beginning to RSVP. You realize you have more people than you expected and — oh crap. How are you going to find time to get more Champagne? You should have used Ultra.

In Los Angeles, where luxury means never having to suffer without, there are several options for hosts not wanting to leave their house during these stressful, booze-less times. Earlier this year, three alcohol delivery apps launched in the city all but simultaneously, providing a wide selection of spirits, beer and wine delivered to your door in less than an hour, a totally (and thankfully) legal service, since the orders are technically fulfilled by local liquor stores.

Just in time for the new year, L.A. can add a fourth service to that list, the web-based Ultra, which is offering free delivery from its Beverly Hills–originating partner store through Jan. 15 on its extensive selection of upscale products, from Ace of Spades Rosé to cases of Fiji Water. The company even has monthly subscriptions that ensure there is always fresh stock on hand, and this year it's also offering pre-designed packages for the holidays that bring a party in a box to your doorstep.

Ultra's branding may not be as snarky or cool as Saucey, Thirstie and Drizly's, which are clearly catering toward a younger, more impatient cocktail-loving crowd, but this is a service that benefits those who have some extra cash and like to plan ahead. Sure, the affordable Kendall Jackson and Coors Light six-packs are still available for immediate delivery to everywhere from Santa Monica to Universal City, but with higher minimums (for now) and a wider selection of high-end spirits and wines, Ultra is best used for selective item deliveries and its curated subscriptions.

“We are aggressively looking to expand to more areas to bring down the delivery minimum to $20 to $30 for most areas,” says founder Aniket Shah. “We are in the process of negotiating and signing up additional stores in Silver Lake, downtown L.A., Santa Monica and Manhattan Beach.”

Monthly packages can include everything from limited-edition Scotch bottles to European sparkling wines. For the more discerning delivery needs, there are wines separated by region and whiskies searchable by country of origin.

Since launching earlier in December, Ultra also has considered using L.A. as a pilot city for medical marijuana deliveries; however, with the currently gray-area legality of weed deliveries, that plan is on hold for now.

Los Angeles is the eighth of 20 major cities into which Ultra plans to expand by the end of 2015. A very happy new year indeed.
