Uggie, the dog star of The Artist, got a nifty reward when he put his paws in concrete at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Monday.

It was a cake, the kind a guy dog could really appreciate — a 2 ½-foot-tall red fire hydrant covered in fondant and filled with dog-style goodies such as applesauce, peanut butter and molasses.

Charm City Cakes West created the cake, and all of it was for Uggie. The bakery sent along peanut butter sheet cakes filled with buttercream and caramelized bananas for the humans attending.

Duff Goldman, Charm City's owner, was a bit concerned about the hydrant. “I hope he doesn't pee on it,” he said.

Not to worry, Duff. Uggie behaved like the fine actor he is. After the ceremony, he licked the top of the cake and took a bite, restraining himself from any other reaction. Then he and his trainer took the rest home. What happened after that we don't know.
