UCLA announced today that starting offensive lineman Torian White has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. But the District Attorney's office has declined to file charges, at least for now.

The 20-year-old from Inglewood was arrested early Sunday at a residence near campus after cops were called in response to a “disturbance,” according to a UCLA statement.

According L.A. County Sheriff's Department inmate data …

… White was arrested at 3:39 a.m. on Sunday by UCLA police. Sheriff's data on the case indicates prosecutors have rejected the allegations.

A D.A.'s spokeswoman confirmed that, explaining that prosecutors have asked for further investigation.

The school says cops were called to an apartment complex near campus, on Glenrock Avenue, about 3 a.m. regarding that disturbance.

Football coach Jim Mora says White has been suspended for now:

We are aware of the situation involving Torian White, and we take these accusations very seriously. Torian has been suspended from the team indefinitely while the legal process and student discipline process run their course. Due to the ongoing police investigation, we are unable to discuss this matter further at this time.

White hasn't played since Oct. 3 as the result of an injury to his right leg in a game against Utah, the school says.

The 6 foot 5 inch, 290 pound redshirt sophomore came to UCLA in fall of 2011, according to the university. He attended Lakewood High School.
