The seasonal UCLA “undie run” last night almost became an undie riot, according to reports.

UCLA Campus Police Sgt. J. Pak told City News Service that some runners in underwear jumped on top of a Los Angeles Police Department patrol car during the festivities.

Cops moved in to disperse crowds about 1 this morning, he said.

Snoop Dogg's son, UCLA student and football player Cordell Broadus, reportedly participated in the event.

Police we spoke to downplayed any unruliness.

A Los Angeles Police Department sergeant said there were no arrests. UCLA police spokeswoman Nancy Greenstein said the same thing.

She estimated the crowd at about 8,000. Some LAPD officers were at the scene on horseback, a method of policing used when large crowds are involved. However, Greenstein said there were no calls for back-up; the LAPD response had been planned.

Greenstein said participants started gathering off campus about 10 minutes before the midnight run, which took them to the university and back to Westwood.

Even with afterparties near school, Greenstein said, festivities wrapped up about 2 a.m.

“It's not that different year to year,” she said. “It wasn't that much different than past undie runs.”

We reported in 2009 that UCLA had prohibited the undie run. However, Greenstein said this was largely an off-campus affair and thus was outside the purview of administrators.

“The undie run is not a UCLA event,” she said. “There's nothing we can do but be prepared for it.”

She said the event, which happens at the tail end of finals week, attracted students from other campuses as well as what we'll go ahead and describe as perverts with cameras.

No injuries, besides maybe some chafing, were reported.
