A vehicle belonging to UCLA shooter Mainak Sarkar has been found parked in Culver City today, police said.

The 2003 gray Nissan Sentra was found by Los Angeles Police Department Pacific Division officers on patrol in the 11300 block of Washington Boulevard Place in Culver City at 1:50 p.m., LAPD Officer Liliana Preciado said.

The Los Angeles city boundary with Culver City weaves in and out of the area, and LAPD officers frequently drive through.

A bomb squad was en route to ensure the vehicle was not boobytrapped, Preciado indicated.

Washington Place was closed in the area, she said.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Kevin Tao said the southbound 405 off-ramp to Venice Boulevard and Washington Boulevard was in the process of being closed. That's near the car's location.

At a news conference Thursday, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck urged the public to help investigators locate the car.

It was believed Sarkar fatally shot his wife in Minnesota, then drove to UCLA to carry out Wednesday's attack, which took the life of UCLA professor William Scott Klug. The shooter then fatally shot himself.

UPDATE at 6:48 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2016: At a 6 p.m. news conference, police said they found multiple gas cans, possibly used to avoid leaving a credit card trail at gas stations, and a handgun inside the car.

It's the third gun connected to Sarkar.

No explosives were found after a bomb squad combed through the vehicle, cops said.

A Culver City bus runs from nearby Sepulveda Boulevard to UCLA. It's possible the shooter used the line to get to campus Wednesday.
