UB40 Headlines Reggae Night at the Bowl: It’s reggae night at the Hollywood Bowl, and not in that awful “new reggae” fashion (Soja, etc). Birmingham veterans UB40 are joined by the Original Wailers (well, Al Anderson anyway), plus Maxi Priest and locals Big Mountain. So many great tunes between that lot.

The other ’80s Birmingham stars Duran Duran were just at this venue, so it’s fitting to see UB40 headline here too.  They recently released a new single, “Champion.”

“UB40’s ‘Champion,’ was the official anthem of the recent 2022 Commonwealth Games, hosted by UB40’s hometown of Birmingham, England, and is the first single from their upcoming 2023 album titled UB45, a celebration of the band’s 45 years with new and re-corded hits,” reads a press release. “Featuring two of Birmingham’s most respected emcees, Gilly G and Dapz on the Map alongside UB40 frontman Matt Doyle, listen to “Champion” HERE.”
